AIMS AND CONTENTS
The aim of the comparative and contrastive grammatical study of Turkish and English is to help students be familiar with the similar and the dissimilar structures of English and Turkish through full linguistic analysis of the grammars. In order to do this, the sentential and phrasal structures and the usage properties will be contrasted by means of modern linguistic methods. The course also aims at making the comparison of Turkish and English phrase structures and sentence structures in relation to functions of language and translation problems.

1-      English Turkish Comparative Phonology

3-      English Turkish comparative syntax
 
REQUIREMENTS
Attendance is a course requirement. Attendance records are kept and students must attend at least 75% of scheduled classes
 
GRADING – EVALUATION
Mid-term exam        :    25%
Term-project            :   25%
Assignements           :   10%
Active participation :   10%
Final exam               :   30%
